En Provence

The L’Occitane journey began with nothing but an alambic distillery, a small truck and a solid knowledge of plants.  Olivier Baussan, at the age of 23, began distilling Rosemary essential oil which he sold at the local markets of Provence.  In 1976 using an old soap factory, Olivier revives the traditional art of Marseille soap-making.  He then reserves his first harvest of lavender which is an iconic symbol of Provence.  While exploring the world for new ingredients and traditional techniques, Olivier learns about the women who produce shea butter in Burkina Faso, Africa.  After discovering its incredibly nourishing qualities he places a large order before returning home.  Olivier opens his first L’Occitane factory and store in 1981 and subsequently adds flagship stores across the world with boutiques in New York City and Hong Kong.

Each L’Occitane has a unique store front that requires custom light boxes.  We worked with each location to provide the exact solution they needed.  The large store front light box shown in the photo above was for an exterior location.  We manufactured a backlit LED light box with a 6″ deep extrusion.  The graphic was printed on flex face material and stretched over a frame.  We added a retainer with locks around the perimeter of the box that was power coated to match their store front design.  The light box was recessed into the store front and created a large impact that allowed them to emphasize their current advertising and update the display as necessary.
